Material is constantly evolving and need to be always optimized to ensure the right level of quality and performance. Lucchini RS with a dedicated team of metallurgists and engineers designs and develops innovative steel grades, continuously upgrading their current properties.
Our tool steels from the Eskylos® family are special Hot Work tool steel grades, designed above all for light alloyed die casting applications subjected to high working temperature.
Isotropy is the real challenge! Extending life of a die is achieved when steel is showing an isotropic behavior which means same properties in longitudinal and long-transverse directions, and it is showing the same through-thickness properties (at both sub surface and mid-thickness). This is possible only thanks to an advanced manufacturing process which includes Electro Slag Re-melting, ensuring best toughness and fatigue resistance.
Our ESR steel grades fully meet international standard requirements, as NADCA #207, concerning the annealed microstructure and banding segregation in the core of the block, the most critical position.
Our tool steels from the Keylos® family are specifically developed for plastic mould applications.
Thanks to the state-of-the-art manufacturing process, special heat treatment and “perfect” balance of chemical composition, we ensure high quality and performances which mould making and plastic processing technologies need.
